Whether you are continuing to rent or ready to take the next step toward homeownership, NIFA has programs that may benefit you.
The Low Income Housing Tax Credit program (LIHTC), administered by NIFA, is designed to assist developers in building affordable rental housing that benefits low to moderate-income families. These developments have restrictions on the amount of rent that can be charged. Income restrictions do apply for eligibility to live in the affordable developments.
CROWN is also a program used by housing developers, to build affordable single family homes that are "lease-to-own" or that have programs that can assist families in preparing for homeownership. A CROWN housing development will have CROWN in the development's name.
