First Home Program
The NIFA First Home Program helps eligible first-time homebuyers purchase a home in Nebraska.
This program may be a good fit if you are buying your first home, or if it has been three or more years since you owned and lived in a home as your primary residence.
The First Home Program is for buyers who:
- Meet NIFA’s first-time homebuyer requirement
- Do not qualify for the Military Home Program
- Do not need NIFA down payment or closing cost assistance
If you need help with down payment or closing costs, review NIFA’s homebuyer assistance options. If you are an active military member or qualified veteran, review the Military Home Program.
First Home Targeted Program
The First Home Targeted Program is for buyers who purchase a home located in a target area and do not need down payment and closing cost assistance. Buyers do not need to meet NIFA's first-time homebuyer requirement. Maximum household income and purchase price limits are higher when a home is located in a target area.
Target areas are designated by the federal government. The following counties have targeted census tracts:
You can use NIFA's Geocoding/Mapping System to help you identify whether or not a specific home is located in a target area.
