Homebuyer Education
Buying a home can be overwhelming, which is why we require occupying borrowers to complete a homebuyer education class from a NIFA-approved provider, prior to your closing. We encourage our buyers to take the class when the first begin the search process. The classes are good for 12 months from the date of completion and the class content is valuable as a first time homebuyer is evaluating properties for purchase.
Homebuyer education to-do list for NIFA borrowers:
- Complete an approved education class prior to closing, if you will be signing the loan (promissory note) and living in the property
- Turn in a completion certificate to the lender. The certificate needs to have the borrower’s name and education provider on it.
- NOTE: Certificates are valid for 12 months from the issuance/completion date
