2019 Workforce Housing Forum Recap

The Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA) was honored to host the 3rd annual Workforce Housing Forum on September 17th, 2019 in Kearney, Nebraska at the Younes Conference Center.  The Forum provided an opportunity for people in the housing, economic and community development industries to attend informative sessions and discuss workforce housing strategies.  Our keynote speaker, GROW Nebraska, spoke about how social media can be an important tool to promote your community or business.

This year’s sessions included workforce housing success stories, flood recovery efforts and goal setting for successful project development.  We also had a session about the Blueprint Nebraska report released by the State of Nebraska.  During that session, members of the taskforce discussed regional housing solutions and the need for programs to solve issues they discovered, such as prisoner re-entry housing.

“If there is anything I can do to help NIFA create a program to address the housing issue, I would love to help.  If we can keep people from re-offending – that’s the main thing.  I so appreciated what Tim said in the Blueprint presentation.  He spoke with such kindness and understanding.  Please let me know what I can do!!  Thanks so much for being willing to look for a solution to this issue!”  - Judy, attendee at the 2019 Workforce Housing Forum
