Through the Military Home Program NIFA helps those who serve transition from military life to homeownership

Honoring Service with Support: NIFA's Military Home Program

This Veterans Day, NIFA proudly salutes Nebraska’s servicemembers, veterans, and their families — the heroes who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and strengthening our communities.

Home means stability, community, and belonging — values that every Nebraskan deserves. We are honored to help those who have served our nation build their future right here at home.

About the Military Home Program

NIFA’s Military Home Program is designed to make homeownership more accessible and affordable for those who have served our country.

This program is available to:

  • Active Military (active duty or reserves), or
  • Qualified Veterans (discharged under conditions other than “dishonorable”)

One of the greatest benefits of a NIFA home loan is our competitively priced interest rate options. These rates are typically lower than conventional rates and are updated daily:

Eligibility Details

  • Active military members must meet NIFA’s first-time homebuyer requirement. Individuals are considered first-time buyers if they have not owned and occupied a primary residence within the past three years (some exceptions may apply). Learn more about the First Home Loan Program.
  • Qualified veterans or their spouses are not required to be first-time homebuyers.
  • A copy of the DD214 Form is required to determine eligibility.
  • Income and purchase price limits apply to all NIFA programs. Details can be found under the First Home Program.

If you are not eligible for a loan through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), you can choose either a Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insured loan or a USDA Rural Development (RD) guaranteed loan through the First Home Loan Program.
